Frequently asked questions

What should I look for in a used electric car?

The condition of the traction battery matters most. Ask for a recent battery report (state of health), the remaining term of any manufacturer battery warranty and which charging cables are included. Also check the maximum charging power on AC and at DC rapid chargers.

How do I charge an electric car in Switzerland?

At home with a wallbox or a household socket, and on the road at public charging stations. AC charging usually uses a Type 2 plug; most recent models use CCS for rapid charging. Some older models use CHAdeMO – check the port before you buy.

Is there motor vehicle tax on electric cars?

Each canton sets its own motor vehicle tax. Some cantons grant reductions for electric cars, others do not. The rules of your canton of residence apply; its road traffic office can advise you.
